I think it SEEMS nice to give our workers a $15 minimum wage...and yes we do have a bit of a moral obligation to help others as Christians, but also that they reciprocate by doing THEIR best to also help others & participate in the system...and become part of a relational system. And our system constantly emphasizes and stresses the need for education...that education is the best track to a decent paying job...at least some college; and so we have MORE of a moral obligation to reward those who have STUCK IT OUT in the education system ...to give them higher pay, and create an incentive for those with lower wages to stay in school or go back to school so they can work their way up thru the system thru education & good citizenship the same way everybody else does. There are ALL kinds of problems to creating a lucrative pay scheme for those at the "bottom of the ladder" so to speak. It seems nice, but it may actually be IMMORAL in the long run because of the bad consequences it creates. Time will tell.
Meanwhile, how can JERRY BROWN speak with a straight face of "moral obligation" when he fails to do anything at all to try to save unborn babies or even create incentives for pregnant mothers to at least give their baby up for adoption rather than abort??!!! he is the ULTIMATE HYPOCRITE ! He has lost his right to speak of morality given his lack of any track record whatsoever for defending unborn babies or traditional marriage. And this is a person who at one point was considering the priesthood? It's unbelievable.
"Here’s the quote of what [Jerry Brown] said. Look for one little adverb that indicated (probably accidentally) exactly why the law was passed, even though Brown has previously been resistant to it:
"...
Economically, minimum wages may not make sense. But morally, socially, and politically they make every sense because it binds the community together to make sure parents can take care of their kids...."
